A new reading of the verse "We pray to your Lord and we pray"

Abstract

The commentators of al-Furiqin, in the usual way, have related the verse "We pray to God and we say" with the issue of the delay in revelation. The connection of this verse with the issue of "delay in the revelation" originates from the thought pattern that the narrations have determined the causes of its revelation. Jafar Morteza Aamili, in his book Tafsir Surah al-Dahhi, has revealed their instability and weakness by examining these traditions. Therefore, this question is raised, if this verse is not related to the issue of the delay in revelation, what factor caused it to be revealed? The present research is based on the coherence of Surah Al-Zahi and rereading this verse in the context of this Surah, as well as paying attention to the Surah connected with Surah Al-Zahi, i.e. Surah Al-Sharh, and examining the meaning of rejection and anger and the cognitive schema related to it in the discourse of worship in the era of revelation, shows that this The verse is not related to the difficulty in "receiving revelation" but to the difficulty in "delivering revelation" and refers to the taunts raised by the opponents due to the lack of faith of famous people in the Prophet (PBUH) and the tendency of people from the lower social
