Abstract

Translation of the Quran is a bridge to convey the divine message and words to non-Arabic speaking audiences. Therefore, the translators try to translate the depth of the meaning and concept of God's eloquent words correctly and completely from Arabic to other languages; However, the range of meaning and diverse usage of some words sometimes make them difficult to find equivalents and choose the appropriate translation, so that different translations of a single phrase are presented. Derivatives of the substance "Thani" are among these cases, which the current research has tried to investigate its semantic dimensions in the Holy Quran with a critical-analytical method, due to the semantic range and the importance of accurate translation of the verses containing it, in order to find an answer to the question that How have the contemporary Persian translations of the Holy Qur'an translated the interpretations of the Qur'an in the word "Thani" into the target language? Therefore, by using lexical sources and reflecting on the context of the verses, he found the correct semantic equivalent and evaluated the contemporary translations based on that. In the end, it has been concluded that some derivatives of the article "Thani" have been used in the primary meaning of flexibility, withdrawal and exception; But due to the multiple use of this article in the numerical meaning of two and twelve, the translator could not distinguish between the numerical meaning and the original meaning, and the same numerical meaning has been considered for them.
